Sewing School Update

Sewing School Foundation Slab

Well here we are term three, I was hoping to start classes this week, with the projected completion date of the sewing school originally scheduled for the beginning of June. And now, about to head into August and all that shows for the sewing school is a foundation pad.

Illness of the various contractors has been the main limitation, concrete pouring took three attempts, the first two cancelled on the day with the drivers coming down with Covid, and its unfortunately not a next day reschedule, typically a week to two. And now, there are no builders available for the foreseeable future to erect the structure. It is very hard to plan for class start dates when the situation changes daily. The courses are designed for eight sessions, this could be abbreviated to six, but even then will there be enough time for six sessions, erection of the structure and painting and fitting out the classroom before the end of term?

It is all very much up in the air. I will be releasing course information for the beginner sewing courses this Friday (29th July), and if interested, prospective students can indicate their interest and preferred day/time. Along with beginner classes, school holiday, Christmas workshops and further courses extending from the beginner course are in the works. I am extremely grateful to be in a position to open a sewing school, and although there are delays, this process has been extremely joyful and I have meet some amazing people along the way. Finger crossed the uncertainty will cease soon, and teaching can begin.
